We have developed a new web store which we need to set up so that when the site is entered via an affiliate, a different theme is used. This is what we have done so far... In admin/options/affiliates we have checked "Allow Affiliate Themes". In admin/people/affiliates we have set up an affiliate called "testaff" which we have enabled and changed the theme to a one that is different from the main web site (actually we have tried several different themes). Entering the site via http://web address/default.aspx?affid=testaff does not display the site differently to the normal site. In case the affid is detected based on the web site url, I have set the web site url to my own PC IP address on the network, but that does not work either. In case the problem is caused by any changes we have made to the site, I have also installed a brand new test BVCommerce web store and tried to set up affiliate themes on that version. That does not work either. Is this a bug or are we doing something wrong? Jenny |

Well, there is a few things that could be configured wrong here.
1) make sure that the affiliate is enabled. When you go to create a new affiliate, they are disabled by default (some people see "enable" on the affiliates list and assume that it means the affiliate is enabled. It actually is a button to enable the affiliate).
2) Make sure that your current user id is not already associated with another affiliate. If in the options >affiliates section you have conflict resolution mode set to "favor old affiliate" then you might not be changing the current affiliate after all.
Check out these two things and let me know if you are still having any issues. |

Is it possible that if a user has visited the site prior to going through the affiliate that they will see the original theme and not the affiliate theme due to either being a customer already OR having visited the store in the past OR related to local web caching?

I have now got it working! I think it was a combination of my stupidity with Justin's suggestion number 1 and websuperman's suggestion.
Firstly, I thought "enable" meant "enabled", so I actually had it the wrong way round. However, while trying to get it working I know I changed enable/disable on several occasions. So, I must not have refreshed correctly or deleted the cookie on those occasions!
When testing now, I have to make sure that every time I go in via the affiliate link, I delete the cookie afterwards when I want to go back in via the normal link.
Thank you both very much for your help.

I now have my affiliate site working with the correct theme, thanks to this forum. However, I am just completing testing and have found that the orders made when entering via the affiliate site are not showing up in the order reports for affiliates via the admin section. I am not concerned about the affiliates own reports, but need to have the admin reports working.
I have scoured the documentation but cannot find what I might be doing wrong this time.
Any suggestions?
I really like BVCommerce, having previously used other shopping cart software, I find BVC really superior. But there is just not enough detailed documentation.

Sorry, it appears that a change that we made in SP1 broke the admin affiliate report. Please replace this page in your website. This fix will be included in SP2. Please make a copy of your current page in case there are any issues. The file is in /www/BVModules/Reports/Affiliate Sales/view.aspx.vb File Attachment(s): View.aspx.vb (7kb) downloaded 3 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register. |

Great - it works. I thought it was me having another mental block on the set-up!
We are all set to go live now and our customer is very happy with the site.
Thanks for all the help.
