I've created all my categories, and for everyone I put the url I want to use to access to them. Click on an item menu proposed by the system homepage 1 content block ... the browser point to the path I like, but the result is a 404 page.
This happens randomly for categories apparently well setup and every time I try to access to a rewrited url the contains hyphen like /test/test-a.aspx

I think you have to fix this.

I discovered that problem sussist for manual imported category. Editing the category through the admin panel, and saving them the problem will be solved. But what exactly do you do on this stage? I'm in a trouble with product manual imported too. In that case I'm not able to display - differently from category - any product.
Please clarify this aspect, because I don't think to be the only one that need a manual import way to populate db.

Manually populating the db is not supported. If you must populate the db manually then we suggest using the web services.

It doesn't worked as I specified above. Unable to login, but using manually the web service I grant access without problem. So I think that you should think to support also manual import in case like mine, and above all add an import for manufacturer, vendor, category and the related linking table.
You ask the user to specify the category bvin manually in the product flat file, so in a certain way you pretend that user perform a sort of manual data manipulation that is quite the same to insert manually data in the db.

When u will implement that management in your tool I suppose you can ask user to use only your tool.

Regards.

I'm not asking the user to use only our tool, I was merely trying to say that directly modifying the database can have unintended consequences. We suggest that if you are going to import data directly into your database that you at the very least use the web services, but even then there are problems than can be run into.

And yes currently the flat file import tool only supports Categories and Products and in the future we will assess what additional support needs to be added.

Certainly this sort of support enhance the quality of the product.

By the way, do you know why the url rewriting in that case doesn't work, while updating the record, simply pressing update without no real changes, strangely it works fine? The same issue is both for categories and for products.

Yes, this support would enhance the quality of the product and we would love to have the feature in there, the issue is that we have limited resources and we have to prioritize the updates that we release for the software. We are sorry that you need this feature and in the future we hope to include it for you.

As far as why the url rewriting doesn't work until you save the product/category, well it is because saving the category or product object also puts a Custom url row into the bvc_CustomUrl table with the SystemData column set to the bvin of the product or category. While the data is redundant and not normalized we did this so that it was easier to tell which products were rewritten and to what they were rewritten to.
