How does one go about processing orders manually with BVC5? Is there a place to get the credit card information so you can run it through a virtual terminal or a machine?

Thanks!

In order to process credit transactions manually you should configure your credit card payment settings to use the BV Manual Gateway. This will capture the credit card information and display it in the orders payment screen. You can then manually run your auth/charge. One important note, it is illegal to store the CVV code, so if your payment requires a CVV, you will have to contact the customer in order to retrieve this information.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. I go to the Payment Information screen and the credit card information is shown, but the card number only has the last 4 digits shown. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Christian:
The reason you are only seeing the last 4 digits of the CC number is you have encryption turned on. The rest of the number is still there.

There are several different ways to use the admin section.

The first question you asked is how to process orders manually?
1. If you have a phone order or a mail order the easiest way is to do the whole thing under "Orders - New Order". Then fill in all the information and press place order.

2a. If you have your site configured to charge the CC when placing the order, all you need to do is check to make sure the order is complete, and you are all done except for one issue I have found on SP1. You may have to come back in edit mode and place the user name and email address on the order, then send them a status update. This may be fixed in SP2 or may not.

2b. If you have the site configured to Authorize the CC instead of Charge (which I think is the default setting) and you want to keep it that way, then you can go in under the payment screen and click the charge button. Only being able to see the last 4 digits does not change the CC number so you just hit the charge button and that should work. If you or the customer input the wrong CC number or Expiration date, the charge will fail. This is where it gets to be tricky. You may need to come back to this later if your CC fraud detection blocks duplicate simultaneous orders to the same CC number. This is to stop people from trying to determine the expiration date with multiple charges. You can retype the whole number into the same CC input box, fix the expiration date and it will encrypt all but the last 4 digits when you press Charge.

2c. If you take Partial Payments or Deposits on an order, then you would want to go into the Payment section and click on the New CC or New Check if it is a check for the second payment. Then go from there.

3. If the customer input the order and phones the CC number to you, then you go in under the payment processing screen.

Now what Everett meant about the CVV codes, if you require a CVV code and you write it down anywhere or receive it in the mail, you really should shred it after the order is complete.

Thanks for the reply! the problem is my client's site stopped connecting to their credit card processor and they need to input the orders they get on their site manually on authorize.net. They need to be able to see the credit card numbers so they can copy and paste them into authorize.net.

Where do we turn off encryption of credit card numbers, so that merchants who manually process credit cards can see the full credit card # (minus the CVV, of course)?

Found my answer (I was specifically looking for the word encryption, which is what through me off when I posted my question above).

Here's where to turn off the masking (aka encryption) of credit card numbers:

admin / Options / Payment / Credit Card (edit) / Display Full Credit Card Information In Admin Console
