I'm playing with the demo and the catagories.
I noticed when I'm in the root catagory and want to select in the Display Templete to use either of the Sub-catagory options the left menu does not display. Is that able to be modified and if so where do i change that. i would like to have the left menu to display at all times.
Also i put a logo in for the Store Information. Thinking that would change the top logo on the site, it didn't. So what is that for and how do i change the top logo and the header and footer?

Dan,
Some themes have automatic placement of the uploaded logos and other themes require manual tweaks to get your logo to show.
Some of the category templates do not include the side columns on purpose. We have a "Subs + Grid + Side Column" category template available as a free download here in the forums.

You are grasping at some of the very things I was when I was in your position about 6 months ago -- you need to think "out of the SF-Box" -- I've learned with BV5 there is so much flexibilty. Play around with the Content Columns and you can do pretty much what you want -- that said there are pages that do not include the columns by default and I have a hard time adding those -- the whole master pages thing is new to me!
You also want to check out Cliff's Theme Generator -- it's an awesome tool that will get you on your way to creating your own theme if you want. |

I appreciate all your help. The demo is really helping me evaluate and see if BV can do what we need it to do our our store.

Thanks for your information as well. Your Drop down menu system at the top of your page. Is that something added in or is that something that is configurable in BV out of the box?
It is hard to see how some of the layout is working and how to modify it. I'm using the only documentation as much as i can, but is is limited somewhat in explanning how some things work.

My menus are a Telerik control menu -- I used a similar version in my previous cart.
There are parts of the documentation that are lacking -- sometimes you can get info out of the BV2004 documentation. If you have any questions about my site's layout, let me know by email and I'll go over it with you. Except for the Telerik menu, my site is pretty much OOTB with use of a custom theme that I did myself thanks to Cliff's theme generator.
The learning curve is a little steep at first, but it's nowhere near the learning curve that you faced in SF6. And if you lay it out right, you dont need to edit any of the files directly (though I have some using the MS VS Express), so when you get an update, there is no big deal about it. |

FYI, the theme generator has been taken down and will be replaced by something else soon. I just couldn't make the time to update the themes in the generator for SP2. |

Thanks Cliff -- what changes in SP2 affected your themes? I'm using one I generated from you site in my SP2 store -- I am struggling with some display issues (mainly text/picture positioning) and wonder if that is where those issues are coming from. |
