When editing product variations, question about description

Rank: Member Joined: 8/8/2007(UTC) Posts: 298		I have a product set up with product variations. 2 choices for color and 2 choices for bolt size for a total of 4 variations. My question is about the description. I have a description on the general part page that is the description i want displayed for the product. I went into my product variation and alltered the SKU for each and added a short description for each. Left the long description blank as i have the long description filled in on the General options for the product I then viewed the product on the website and no long description was being desplayed. So i though maybe it was because i put in a short description for each sku that it was then also looking for the long description for each sku. So i removed the short description for the sku's and viewed again. Still no long description. I was under the impression that if nothing was entered in the long description for eash sku then it would default the long description on the general options page. this is on a SP2 site. Dan

The long description for the parent product is shown until you choose the variation, then the long description for that variation is shown. Up Sells and Cross sells allow you to override the short description shown for the parent product. I haven't found where the short description for the variation is displayed.

But the first one i worked with the variation long description was empty and was not displaying a description in the store, even though the parent had a description. Dan
