I am in North Carolina. I am not sure if anyone else is but I am wondering if you have to create a report for each County's individual tax report.

In other words I have been told I have to get which County the package is being shipped to then submit a report stating how much taxes were collected for EACH county. There are 100 Counties in NC and I can't see this being easy. I have a drop down list on our site now asking which County that they are in if they are in NC. Now I need a report to show how much tax was collected for each county for a specific month.

If you can write the report or help me in anyway I would be much appreciated and of course pay you for your time
Thanks,

Christopher

You might want to double-check your information -- first, I have never heard that NC was charging tax from catalog sales by county (I know NY does and perhaps one other state, but we almost moved to NC and I looked into this). Secondly, your tax isn't based on where your order ships, but from where it is billed.

I know a few other online stores that operate out of NC and they do not charge tax by county. Now, whether they are doing the math differently on the backend or not, I'm not sure, but they are not asking what county you are in when you order.

I'm thinking that "every county gets a check" idea is a bit off target. I looked around a bit and can find nothing so far.

Perhaps you could post at this forum, let us know what you get:

Also, here's a source to try:

In NY, you fill in a form that itemizes the amount of sales and sales tax by county (88 of them). You send a single check to the state typically quarterly or yearly. A report of total sales by county for a specified time period is what is needed for NY. You recalculate the sales tax when you fill-in the form.
