Hello,

I have installed the demo via FTP to my host site and could not get the software to load; 500 errors. I contacted my hosting company and they deleted my install and did it for me and it still will not load; 500 errors.

I have looked at the manual for information on what files to tweak, etc and I see there is a file, webconfig, to add the database connection information however when I looked at it there is connection data in there for SQL express; do you remove that, as I am using SQL 2005 and add my database information? I did that and it still would not load.

The database was created fine and all tables appear to be there so I don't think that's the problem. Even though I turned off friendly error messages in my browser I am still getting what appears to be a friendly error message so I have no idea what is actually happening to generate this error.

I need some help from someone familiar with the software who can assist me in getting it functioning.

Please call me at 866-825-6584 (toll free) if you can help.

Thank you.

Yvonne

Okay, my post has been here for hours and no one has responded not even BV software. I guess that means I am evaluating the wrong product.

Did you ask Product Support?

I'm going to guess that "500 errors" means you get HTTP 500 Server Error when you try to load the store, and not that you get 5 hundred errors.

My guess is that the site is configured to run ASP.NET 1.1. BVC5 requires ASP.NET 2.0.

The friendly error message setting in the browser has no affect on what the server produces. Most modern ASP.NET server applications (including BVC5) try to catch server errors and either recover gracefully or display a message that helps diagnose the problem without giving away too much information to potential hackers. There is a way to turn off most of the error handling, but it requires a file edit.
