You need to run the site manager as administrator on Vista. Right-Click and choose "Run as Administrator."

Your help is GREATLY appreciated. I've installed the newest version (Bvc 5.3.2.20) on Vista home. I keep getting an error when I click "Create New Store" - and I've even right clicked and ran as admin.
I have also tried through VS2008 Standard Edition but cannot run the website through there because of an Object reference Not set to an instance of an object: [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] BVSoftware.Bvc5.Core.Utilities.UrlRewriter.RewritePath(HttpApplication& app, Uri sourceUrl) +311 BVSoftware.Bvc5.Core.Utilities.UrlRewriter.app_BeginRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e) +69 System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +92 System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +64
I get the following error details from the Site Manager "Create New Store" error:
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debugging enabled.
For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer rather than be handled by this dialog box.

The error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." usually means that the program cannot connect to the database. Check your database settings and make sure it allows remote connections, and has the correct username/password and permissions set. |

Brian,
Thanks for the reply - I'm not sure if I agree because of the first line in the stack trace: BVSoftware.Bvc5.Core.Utilities.UrlRewriter.RewritePath(HttpApplication& app, Uri sourceUrl) +311
But I decided to look into it. I don't have an App_Data folder nor a DB/sql script anywhere. I'll have to search this site for one or the other.
Any tips? (Beside rtfm - I didn't see anything about a dB off hand.)
