I know IE8 isn't official yet but its supposed to be released soon. I'm getting an error when trying to pull shipping rates from the new order admin. Something to look into.

I am not sure if you have tried it or not but you can switch to compatibility mode. If it fixes the issue then it it IE 8.

I did switch to compatibiliy mode which seemed to fix the problem.

I have seen a ton of errors using the IE 8 Beta. Usually the compatibility mode fixed most issues. I just upgraded one of my non-vista machines to IE 8 RC1 so maybe they (Microsoft) have fixed the issue?
