I'm trying to be more transparent about the status of bugs and fixes for the 5.5 service pack in this thread.

What would you like to see going forward for reporting bugs, information about bugs and fixes for bugs?

hey marcus, I went over the concept with you over the phone but a public response to the concept would be good. Much of this is based on the Typepad GUI.

I'd like to see a "Troubleshooting" tab in BV Dashboard (best to be the last link in my opinion)

This section dynamically loads any and all hotfixes for particular bugs, service pack updates, etc. Can be a simple RSS feed that broadcasts the title of the fix and a link to download the update or necessary steps thereafter.

To further this concept, fixes could possibly be organized into categories: Shipping, Ordering, Product Page, Discounts, etc. to allow for a merchant or developer to easily find any fixes for reported problems.

Additionally, you can broadcast messages that you feel are necessary for all customers to know about. "We have received several bug reports of such and such and have found this to affect all merchants, we are in the process of troubleshooting and will post a fix soon."

------- Submitting A Bug ---------------



Possibly a second page or included on this one is a form for a merchant to explain the details of a bug. When sent, you automatically pull all of the necessary version information of the store as well as the error log. This eliminates the 4 or 5 threads/emails that always follow a bug report.



When submitted, this "History" is added to the "Merchant Reports" or "Bug Activity" section which can be a simple thread recording the conversation between Merchant and BV Support. Response, Submit, Response, Submit, etc.



All bugs are tagged with corresponding status tags "open" "Message Waiting" "Response Required" "Fixed Posted" "Closed"
