I have 3 shipping options - Standard, Overnight, and 2nd Day. When we get to the checkout page none of the radio buttons are selected. This makes it show shipping as free. How can I make it so Standard Shipping is always selected? It appears that there is no validation on this radio button list - making the need for a pre-selected value very strong.

Even though a shipping method is not pre-selected, the customer is required to choose a one of the available methods. If you're getting orders with zero dollar shipping, then your shipping rates are not always returning a rate which will cause a new "method" to display that says "0.00 - Contact Store for Details" (or something to that effect). This can happen if UPS/FedEx/USPS do not return a rate (which can happen for various reasons) or if the customer enters an address that for some reason causes a rate not to calculate (e.g. you allow orders to Alaska but you don't have a shipping method associated with that state). |
