The US Postal Service made a change to their web tools responses on January 2nd, 2011. They appear to have incorrectly double html encoded the names of returned services. This is causing errors in all shopping carts (not just BV) that use USPS Web Tools. Domestic Rates:
Domestic rate responses also supply a service code so BV can match up the correct services and return rates International Rates:
International rates only return the names of services which must exactly match. Because USPS botched the output of their web services, the names do not match and rates will not return. FIXES:
We (and many other cart vendors) have contacts the USPS who says they are aware of the issue and will be correcting it quickly. We do not know how long this will take. If the issue continues beyond this weekend we will issue an emergency patch for BV 5 next week that will update the web tools to expect either the correct XML (as it does now) or the botched XML. Both domestic and international rates for USPS are working just fine on our store -- now we use Andy's Shipper product, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but rates returned by the store seem to be inline with what I'm charged by USPS. |

We just released a v4 api on BV Commerce Hosted and should have a 5.8 patch out before the end of the month for BV 5 users.

I posted this elsewhere, but I have a couple of clients whose maintenance packages expire this week, who need version 5.8 for USPS.
Will it be available shortly and/or will they still be able to download it (based on the promised release date was in March)? Thanks!

5.8 Will be available later this week. USPS has decided to allow older rate APIs through September now but still recommends upgrading to the V4 API as soon as possible.

As of 5.8 you should be all set. USPS delayed their changes but BV is all set to go and has been for months now.
