Categories and sub-cats should have a code similar to a "SKU". Appending a product's SKU with the cat code would make it easier to find/sort products in the catalog and make it easier to determin what category(s) a product is wedded to.


The admin could opt-out of this feature with a check box, but all categories would have a name and number.



Also, If coupons could be made category-specific, it'd be a snap to allow/disallow the use of a certain coupon for certain items.



"This coupon good for 10% off on all mp3 players, except Sony units". The coupon would be set up for use on certain categories via the SKU append. Any product in the Sony cat regardless of where else they appear would be excluded.
