How about some sort of order management so that the shipper can denote issues with the order (item coming in x date, customer called, etc.). If the notes were printable (Report with order #, notes) and/or some removable designation next to the order on the screen that it has notes associated with it, then it would be a lot easier to follow the order issues through.
