I have a number of products that are showing a "Quantity Reserved" -- and so my inventory is reduced, yet there are no completed orders with such items. somewhere there are icomplete orders that are still reserving items -- is there a way we can get a report of these so that I can change the figure under batch inventory? I think there should be a code change that says items cannot be reserved until an order is complete and given an Order ID number.

Just a guess... check the workflows.
Optimists invent airplanes,
Pessimists buy parachutes.

Nothing in workflows -- the only setting is to set inventory on "Order Saved" or "Add to Cart" -- so I'm guessing that if someone saves an item to their Wishlist, it "reserves" it -- which is not the way it should be. You should have a setting of setting inventory on "Order Complete"

If you have your inventory set to Add to Cart it will reduce your inventory when anyone sets up a cart. Then when the cart falls off it will add it back into inventory so I'm guessing you had it set to Add to Cart. Basically you never know how much you really have in inventory. If you set it on Order Saved, your inventory should be ok after the carts are all cleaned up.

If you want to change your inventory setting back to Order Saved, you might try running a manual cart clean up and then check to see if it fixes your inventory.

We have not had any problems after switching to Order Saved and fixing the inventory.

Bob,

Bob -- no, I had it on Order Saved -- so it had to be either an order that did not complete (and we have seen quite a few of these with PayPal Express not completing lately).

I know I have products that have a Quantity Reserved that there are no oustanding orders for -- and Wish List doesn't account for it either -- tried that -- the logic needs to change so that an item is not "reserved" until after an order is completed.

Hmm. For us, BV takes the product out of inventory whenever an order number is generated, not when the order is completed. We offer the pay by check option and quite a few of our CC orders are declined, often through no fault of the card holder. I can come back a couple hours later and the card will go through. We pick these up by periodically looking at unpaid orders.

Whether or not the order was paid, when we delete the product from the order, it places the product back in inventory. It almost sounds like the interaction with PayPal might be screwed up.

Just one more question to test my original idea. Has your inventory always been set to Order Saved on the products with problems, or did you switch it after you went live? Our products are short term in nature (usually about 6 months). I don't think our inventory was ever correct until we created products with inventory set to Order Saved.
