Some of my systems have stopped working today because of PCI compliance issues with using SQL Server. Most importantly my sync program that enables me to use/coordinate UPS Worldship won't work now. I would be fine with just using BV’s UPS shipping tool but it does not allow me to format the printing for the standard UPS thermal printer.

Was this corrected in the last BV update? If not, what can be done so I can format BV’s UPS tool for UPS thermal printers?

Can you elaborate a bit more on this? I'm not really sure what you mean.

I have a SQL Server sync program that pulls data from my BV site and passes it on to UPS Worldship. Then feeds back tracking info to the site once shipped. Since using SQL Server like this is no longer PCI compliant, I guess, I am getting errors and being denied access to the site. This is true for another dashboard program I was integrating that used SQL server. I confirmed this with Greg Alton who said that Noah confirmed this with him.

I don't think you are asking for clarification on the UPS printing issue. Let me know if so.

Tom

I am not sure how PCI has stopped your sync scripts working. Have you recently upgraded to 5.7x ? How does this sync service interact with BV?

If this is a custom product (and it sounds like it) then has its BV Core dll been updated and tested before you did an upgrade?

Have you recently updated your environment to PCI compliant and a introduced a Web application firewall? Has its logic disrupted the SQL server link?

Lots of questions which we really need answers to before we can help. Also an over view of the error and at which point are they occurring. Something simple as access denied could be a AD/SQL server account being locked out for example.

I guess the PCI thing is just the back-story. I really just need BV to be able to print labels to the standard UPS thermal printer.

Tom,

Did you create/purchase a plugin to do the ups label printing for you? If its a purchased application then does it have a website/support? If so you are probably best contacting them.

If not then you maybe able to run its SQL script to add the tables into your BV database so you are not going outside your SQL database. This should then allow the app to sync as before?

As far as I am aware the existing default BV label printing options within the Order manager will not be able to get the tracking numbers etc.

Tom,

Were you ever able to resolve you dilemma? Did you look into opening the SQL port on the firewall for a specific IP address(es) or range? If you haven't come up with a solution, one potential workaround is to look into third-party shipping tools like Shipper.

Aaron, no I still don't have the ability to print to my UPS thermal printer from BV. Shipper is too expensive.

I'm not familiar with your printer, but would it be possible to create a custom print template in the admin that would be formatted for your printer?
