I just finished putting together an order over the phone with a new customer. When I checked our Affiliate Sales, one of our affiliates received credit for the order. How is this possible? Our affiliates feature a clickable banner on their site to redirect visitors to ours. The link contains their unique ID to give them credit when an online order is placed. I'm just confused on how this affiliate received credit for this recent phone order. Thanks.

From the back end, not using any outside links to get to the New Order page. Also added in each item through product lookup.

The only way that I can think of where an admin-placed order could be tagged with an affiliate is if the customer first created a cart and that cart was converted to an order (from the Shopping Carts report).

Something brought to my attention was that I was helping the affiliate set up his link, including clicking it to verify it was working. This happened three or four days ago. Does that have anything to do with it?

After a little more digging we found that if an admin user (i.e. you, in this case) has an affiliate ID associated with their account it will be added to any orders placed in the admin. This is a bug that we will correct in the next release. In the meantime, if you clear your cookies it will remove the affiliate ID from your account. Alternately you could use Chrome's incognito mode or Firefox's 'private' mode to place admin orders since this would not have your affiliate ID cookie.

I have an affiliate ID myself, and have seen some orders I create give me credit. However, this particular order credited another affiliate. The customer did not have a shopping cart (as far as I can find on the abandoned cart page). So I'm still not sure how the credit was given to an affiliate that isn't myself.

You mentioned above that you helped an affiliate setup his link and also clicked it. If your affiliate program is setup to "favor new affiliate" rather than "favor old affiliate" then that action would have caused his affiliate ID to replace yours.

Where would I look for this option? Either way, I will clear the cookies to prevent this again. Thanks.

Hi,
Does it support Multi Level Affiliate ?
Example :
* I created an affiliate and named it as "A"
* Now i want to create an affiliate "B"as a new affiliate under "A"

So, if the user under the affiliate "B" purchase or order anything, the B affiliate will get commission normally. as per the above steps, B is under A. Can "A" get the commission through affiliate "B"?

No, multi-level affiliates are not supported.
