2007 was a busy year for BV Software. We expanded our staff, we worked on some extremely large product databases for consulting clients and we added a new product offering, BV Signature, to our lineup. All of the extra activity has been great for revenue but it isn’t free. As 2007 came to a close we had our annual winter retreat where the entire company plans out the next year. We discussed software features, potential new products and improvements to current products and realized that we have gotten away from the fundamentals that make BV Software great. Build excellent software and everything else will fall into place.

Today, we’re announcing some exciting changes that will help BV Software concentrate on building great software and growing our community. The initial cost of a shopping cart is just a small part of the total cost of ownership and we have decided that we need to provide better long term support for merchants and developers. The first step is to remove some of the support cost from the initial license fee for BV Commerce.

Starting today, BV Commerce is priced at $499 per store including full source code with no product or feature limits. BV Commerce 5 Standard and Developer are merged into a single product. A store license is perpetual, no monthly fees and includes 30 days of support. This pricing change makes BV Commerce the best bargain of any ASP.NET shopping cart software on the market.

Second, we are offering a new subscription plan called “BV Up-to-Date.” This new plan includes 5 support incidents per month through our ticket system, all upgrades to the latest versions of BV Commerce (including major versions like BV Commerce 6), a license for DotNetBB standard forum software, connectors for QuickBooks and QuickBooks Point of Sale for BV Commerce. The plan is available at the time of purchase or within 30 days of purchase at $49.95 per month for twelve months. Plans are per-store.

Third, customers who have already purchased BV Commerce 5 can receive credit towards the “BV Up-to-Date” plan. Customers can request 12 months of the “BV Up-to-Date” service from the time of purchase of BV Commerce 5. For example, if you purchased BV Commerce 5 on 12/31/07 you can request the support plan for free which would last until 12/31/2008. Customers who purchased BV Commerce 5 more than 12 months ago may sign-up for the “BV Up-to-Date” plan before March 31st, 2008 and receive the free upgrade benefits when BV Commerce 6 is released in the future.
The last step is returning to our roots and work closely with web developers, hosts and merchants. We need your help to make great software.
