I am hoping someone can help me with an item setup question. I would like to offer a nut tray that has 14 options/nut variations but only 7 selections are needed to fill the tray. The idea is for the customer to have the ability to make the 7 choices and because some nuts cost more than others, the customer selections would drive the final tray price. Is there a way I can use choices/modifiers to accomplish this? Other ideas? Thanks in advance.

kitting. not sure if it currently supports the concept of max items though (display 14, allow only 7). definitely something to consider as a feature enhancement.
I can think of several clients that this concept would work well for. |

We went live with ver 5.3 last fall, just before kitting came out. And while I am not able to upgrade to 5.4 at this time, I appreciate the suggestion, Matt. Does anyone know if the max items concept is supported with kitting? This would be an important feature for our current site as well as for a popcorn company we recently acquired. Here are a some of examples of how it's done with popcorn: http://www.garrettpopcorn.com/createtin/http://www.popcornpalace...ndex.cfm/fa/prod.ccstep1http://www.popcornopolis...ur-Own-Samplers_CA3.htmlAny other ideas on how we can offer the nut tray with options as described above on ver 5.3?

Set up 10 (as modifiers to change the price) but make it known that only the top 7 will be used to fill the order. If any selections are out of stock, the 8th on the list bumps up to fill the order. Takes care of out of stock situations too, huh?
Choice one: show all 14 varieties. Choice two: show all 14 varieties. Choice three: show all 14 varieties. ...etc.
This also allows the shopper to double up on a variety or two.
On the order, the 10 choices show in order with the shopper's first priorities at the top of the list.
OOTB, and can be a shared modifier list. Half hour, max. No kitting, no fuss. |

Mitch - great idea, thanks! Is there any way to display the modifier groups horizontally? They display vertically now, and with the number of modifiers I'll have setup, customers will need to do a lot of scrolling.
