Mailing List Signup - Requiring First Name and Unsubscribing

Hi there
Just wondering if someone could advise on how we might be able to enforce first names being required through the Mailing List Signup content block?
Out of the box BV Commerce 5 allows people to either subscribe via the Mailing List Signup content block or via the Mailing Lists sub-menu of their account. If the former method is used, no first name / last name is recorded, which prevents us from customising mail outs with Hi [firstName].
Also, we've noticed that if registered users change their email address while subscribed to a mailing list, their new email address is added to the mailing list without firstname / lastname details, while their old address also remains on the mailing list. Are these bugs, or just the way the system was designed to function?
We've also discovered that unless a user registers or notifies us to manually remove their details, they aren't able to unsubscribe from a mailing list. Has anyone been able to get around this limitation by creating unsubscribe links within sent emails that automatically run a website script to remove the subscriber's details?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am working on a custom code to modify mailing list signup for a customer. If there is interest by others, I can take requests. Signup form - Could have any number of text box fields, and some of them required. Unsubscribe would be a page like www.dddd.com[email protected], going to that page would remove user from list. |
