I created a third button for when a product has options on each category page. If a product has options, the customer should not be able to add it to the cart until they select the options, which are on the product page. So my third button says "Add to Cart After Options". It acts the same way the "Detail" button works, by directing the customer to the product page to select their options. What I would like to do is somehow "highlight" the product options Div, notifying the customer to choose their options when they hit the "Add to Cart After Options" button only. I think it might clear up some confusion. Take a look at the here at the Burdick Atria 3100 (third product on the page): http://www.medsupplier.com/ekgs-ecgs-electrocardiographs.aspx One solution is to add a # with the div to the end of the link so it scrolls and takes them right to the options box, but i would rather show an arrow or highlight it somehow. That would be the best solution.

I thought the errant appearance of the 'add to cart' button on products with choices was fixed back in an SP2 or a hotfix or other. I had a few emails with Justin or Mike on this and it was fixed, I thought.
Why are you still getting an "add to cart" button on products with choices?
Maybe your choices are non-required, which might allow the "Add to Cart" button.? |

Did you look at my link? I edited the code so the add to cart button will still show up even if product has required options. The way i edited it, is that if the product has options, a new button will show "add to cart after options" which then directs the customer to the product page to select their options. It works like this: If a product has no options, display "Details" (redirect to product page) and "Add to cart" (add item to cart) If a product has options, display "Details" (redirect to product page) and "Add to Cart After Options" (redirect to product page to choose options) What im trying to accomplish, is ONLY when the customer hits the "add to cart after options" button, it will somehow highlight the product varients div. LIke i said, I can add a "# anchor" to the end of the link for the "add to cart of options" that will take the customer to the product page and scroll right to the varients div, but i think somehow highlighting or something else to the div woul dbe much better.

I think you're over-working the progression towards the checkout page. I'd stick with the "Details" button alone.
As a shopper, I don't want to guess which button to select. My inclination would be to try to see what happens when I select one, go back and then try the other. If there's no product or price difference, what's the benefit to the shopper???
This is kind of like asking, "Would you like the blue one behind the Details button, or the same thing behind the Add to Cart After Options button? Same blue one, no? |

Mitch: Im my industry, MAP policies are flooding my site. My MAP policies limit me in what i can and cant do. I can have text that says, "add to cart for price". So by your and BV's current logic, If I have products that all have options with this text and no "add to cart" button is displayed, my customer's leave. They dont know where to go to get a price. SO... Good opinion, but it still doesnt answer my original post. No offense, but im not looking for why i should or should not do something, im looking on how to do something.
