I have url rewriting for categories as /Games/I also have some categories that the URL rewriter fails to rewrite (e.g. "M.C. Escher") to use custom Url Rewriting to: "/Games/Jigsaw/M_C_Escher.aspx" However it now I add a custom query string (I use them in redirects from other sites) "/Games/Jigsaw/M_C_Escher.aspx?from=somewhere" the url rewriting fails and when you try to land to this page I get an error back. PLEASE fix this ASAP: 1. The url rewriter should be able to rewrite "M.C. Escher" by default 2. It should not fail with query strings. Thanks, Corneliu. |

More details on this. The UrlRewriter correctly rewrites "M.C. Escher" category name to "M.C._Escher", however google does not like that in it's adwords as it is considered an invalid URL. (don't ask me why) so I manually set it to be rewritten to "M_C_Escher". However the second problem is there: "/Games/Jigsaw/M_C_Escher.aspx?from=somewhere" is not recognized by the url rewriter. i wouldnt consider that correct. the url should not contain periods unless it is separating file name from file extension.
also - i would suggest you use hyphen before an underscore.

I prefer hyphens, though apparently there is no real SEO benefit to them over underscores. I just think they look better, and am glad that I can create a custom URL for any product, for sure. |
