Understanding the WebServices for manipulating products

I've been looking at the web service methods for adding products to the site and am a bit confused.
Two questions that have come up so far regarding the Catalog_InternalProduct_Insert method: 1. Will it generate a bvin for the product if it's not included in the request? 2. What's the different purposes of the fields under <GlobalProduct> vs. those directly under <p>
Anyone have any general tips for using the webservices to do a product catalog integration? I'd love to see the import tools that are being developed, but I'm not sure I can wait until they are released.
Thanks!

1. If you leave the bvin blank then Insert will generate one for you. If you generate one before you call Insert then it will use the one you generated. I prefer the later because then it is easier to send additional messages that use the product bvin. 2. It looks like each GlobalProduct can have multiple ProductChoice combinations. So, for example, you can assign meta tags to the GlobalProduct or to each choice combination. |
