Anyone seen this free package:
http://www.ideawins.com/productinfo.html

It's from MS and it's free and looks cool.

Could we try to integrate it with BV? That would be really awsome.

Corneliu.

Corneliu,

It is for US only at this time. There are a lot of people from Canada and Australia asking for a version on the newsgroups, so perhaps it will not be too long.

One of the problems with all small to mid tier Microsoft applications has been the lack of tax software support. I notice that likewise this version does not list integration with business tax software as a feature.

I'd like to see Intuit finally have some serious competition as they stopped innovating about 3 years ago but it will take Microsoft some time I think.

Yeah but Quickbooks alone has 85% of the small business market. That's about as dominant as it gets.

Dont quote me on this but I thought I heard that Microsoft has about 2% of the small business accounting market. The other 98% is Intuit and Sage together. However of that, Intuit is just like you said - the 85% of it. I dont know exact numbers, and it'll be changing in the next several years anyhow....

As usual, apples to apples comparison is tough to get at and possibly doesn't really matter. Kinda like the pickup truck (Ford versus Chevy) argument. A truck is a truck and they both will haul and pull stuff just fine.

Decent article that touches on it

It appears MS is now aggressively going after the SMB with their new line up of accounting sw.

BigHead, I think the new software is promising, I just hope it has integrated tax support for small businesses. Quickbooks has been out for over a decade and it's still tough to find competent CPAs in Quickbooks. It will be nice going forward to see an extensive provider list from MS. They seem committed this time and have been buying up SMB type companies for a few years.

With Quickbooks it's getting to the point that the blades cost far more than the razor. Their payroll service alone must have gone up 300% since the early 2000s. Granted through Costco.com you can still get the services for a decent rate, but still. BUT, looking for MS integration when we still don't really have it for the software that controls a majority of the market.... not very likely.
