Having thumbnails of images representing categories on my current site make it easy to "scan" categories via images, as opposed to "reading" categories via text. I get complements on this ease-of-use feature. I notice that BV5 has no built-in content block for category grid sim. to product grid. Is there a chance it's coming back in SP2????

Maybe make some dummy products to place in the product grid that redirect shoppers internally to a specific category???

I've been away from VS/VWB for a long time and it'll be a chore to shake the dust off. Before I build this myself, what's the word??? Yay, or Nay. Got a store to build...

Mitch,

There is a category template that shows sub categories with graphical icons available. What page are you trying to have this grid appear on?

Home page, front and center. No sub cats... I like getting a shopper to an "Add to cart" button in two clicks. click Category > click product.

Maybe sorted. I'm able to build a custom page with a category grid and plaster that in cols 2+3 on the home page. Also, I've altered the headermenu to accept 2 rows of six icons containing small pic and text. Looks a little cluttered but maybe that will do the trick.

I've found a few ways to accomplish this goal. Thanks.

Same issue here. My client would like to have a grid of categories with icons appear on their home page. This was easy to do in BV4, but there doesn't seem to be that type of content block available in BV5? Is there a good work-around without me having to hard-code links into the template?

Thanks!

You could always use multiple Category Rotators (containing 1 category each) and style them to they form a grid rather than stack vertically.

Thanks Aaron, that sounds like the best solution.
