When the value in a product's "Cost" field is LESS than the value in its "Price" field, the value in the "Price" field is displayed in the store.

When the value in a product's "Cost" field is GREATER than the value in its "Price" field, the value in the "Cost" field is displayed.

We would like to have the value in the "Price" field always displayed - regardless of the value in the "Cost" field. Is this a configurable option that I have missed?

Thanks!

A quick work-around can be found in Catalog > Batch Edit. You can "Add to" the site cost of groups of products or categories by $ or %. Sounds like you're looking to clear inventory below cost (ouch).

Thanks for the reply. We offer customers the option of paying for their warranties in full or financing over 12 months. We have a SKU for each type of payment for a product.

For the payment plan SKU, we store our cost in the Cost field and the amount due at checkout in the Price field.

I have since moved the cost to the msrp field and modifed the code so as to not display the msrp and savings. We run an sql query to update the Price field based upon a rule applied to the cost in the msrp field - too complex to do otherwise.

Thanks again!

I'm having the same issue.
Is there any other solutions as I would like to retain the cost in the Cost field.

Thanks,

Yep, there is a workflow step in the product pricing workflow (Options > Workflows > Product Pricing Workflow) that stops items from going below cost. Just delete this workflow and it will start displaying the price no matter what it is set to. Most mechants find this useful so that they can put a sale or discount on a group of items and not have to worry about any small margin items going far below cost.

I have a couple partners that occasionally find stuff at ridiculously low prices from reliable suppliers on the World Wide Web. I'd be careful when disabling some of the built in safeguards in BV5.
