Does the Nodus GP connector work with BV5? Are there any other options for exporting data from BV5 into GP?

Thanks,

John

The Nodus GP integration is currently only built around BVC 2004. I'm not aware of any current options for BVC5/Dynamics integration. BVC5 integration should be quite a bit more straitforward than the previous versions, though I don't know what customizations would need to be made.

John,
I'll be curious to see what you, if anything, you find. Nodus has no plans to create a BVC5 version of their product.

John,

Nodus doesn't appear to have any immediate plans to support BVC5 but I would check with their sales team. The decision to support BVC5 is completely up to Nodus.

Sounds like there's no out-of-the-box integration solution for GP currently. Is there any information available on the website about the import/export/update tools included with BVC5? I couldn't find anything in the documentation.

Thanks,

John

John,

You can download the import/export tools for free from the "Tools and Downloads" section of the forums. These will work with the free 30 day online or downloadable trial if you'd like to test them out.

I am also looking to add on to BV Commerce 5 with Dynamics Great Plains for accounting integration and warehouse and EDI control with our vendors. Its the only solution if your are .NET and using BV5. I just read in internet retailer of another ecommerce player doing $25 -$20 million that just used RockySoftware in Colorado to intergrate BV Commerce to Dynamics Great Plains. We may want to get together for better pricing especially if they have just done it. We can talk to Nodus as well as I have a sales call scheduled with both of them this week for pricing. Its $8-$11K for starters with 5 cals. From there it is all about how custom you want to go with all the add ons and transfer of existing data to the new system. Microsoft's new pricing states that it is supposed to be $1500 per user for the software only. I don't need 5 cals. I need just one or 2 at the most. Most people are selling it in bundels of 5. From there it is integration costs. I have also been told that you want to bid it out so these guys give you the best pricing once they know they are competiting against other players for your business. Thats why I stated I have seen basic bundels for $8-$11K.

I talked with Nodus today. The don't actually a package for BV5. What they have done is taken BV Commerce 2004 and heavily customized it into their own shopping cart system. They have then built Dynamics onto it and are selling the entire thing as a platform. They kept pushing me to use their BV Commerce 2004 system. I told them I wasn't interested and that I need someone to intgrate Dynamics into BV Commerce 5. Didn't sound like they were interested. They kept telling me I should just go with their system.

Hmm. Just out of curiosity, were they going to sell it to you with or without the BV4 license?

The Nodus version of BVC 2004 that integrates with GP is a separate, complete product version. When you purchase from Nodus you get a special version of BVC 2004 so there is no additional license to purchase.

I look forward to reading your post Aaron.

We opted to enter the orders into GP manually as we expect to have very few orders initially. When we outgrow this process we will resume our evaluation of GP integration options.

Who did you purchase Dynamics Great Plains from and what was the cost? This is not something you can just purchase off the shelf. I can't even get a quote without a massive demo and evaluations of our systems. Even Nodus can't sell me GP as they are not a GP reseller. If you buy their modified BV cart integrated with GP you still have to purchase your license for GP through someone else. Only Microsoft resellers can sell it. The sales people then try to upgrade you with licenses and modules to something more then needed and get you with the custom integration costs. You must bid this out and let them know you are shopping them. Numbers can be all over the place. Some have told me $16K and some have told me $25K for the basics.

Guys,

I wanted to get back to you with the results of our Nodus/GP/BVC2004 project. We launched a completely redesigned website, which includes the BV store, at the end of April. One nice thing, at least for our team, is that Nodus uses a C# code base rather than VB.NET. Once we received the software, we made the following changes before going live:

<OL>
<LI>Converted the site to run on ASP.NET 2.0 with Master Pages (although the page codebehind and other project files are still compiled in ASP.NET 1.1).
</LI>
* We implemented our own menu control rather than the stock Category List and Category2 List controls. This uses simplified and more extensible markup, will expand indefinitely (rather than the normal 3 level limit), and also allows us to mix in content pages (static, non-database) while still showing an active state in the menu.
</OL>
Other than that, it's pretty standard. :) A lot of attention has been paid to the rest of the website, so the store functionality will expand in the future. Take a look, and let me know what you guys think.

Very nice design. A good trend setter I might add :)

Only wonder is whether or not the users realize that you have the live chat feature?
