Hello,

I have a client that has several products. Let's say he's shipping shoes. He has set the weight to 10 pounds. When I check out, the calculation for shipping works fine. If he adds a product modifier with a weight of 10 pounds, but no price adjustment, i would expect the shipping costs to be higher with the new weight. Shouldn't the shipping costs be calculated based on the new weight? 10 + 10 instead of using the default shipping weight? Right now, this is not happening.

My assumption is that they should hard code the extra costs. But, shouldn't the new weight be taken into consideration on the automatic shipping rates?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe.

What version of the software are you running? You can find this under Options > About.

Joe,

Yes, product modifiers with weight adjustments should be reflected in "by weight" shipping methods during checkout. Let us know your exact version and we can investigate why this might not be working for you.

Team,

I'm using the developer's edition on this site. I don't know if it helps. Is there a particular file I should replace or look at?

Thanks,
Joe

This is a bug in SP1, and it is fixed in SP2. There was actually several changes to the way that the Order weights are calculated, so it might be difficult to give you the changed code.

Justin,

Does this also address the fact that any shipping charges entered on the product level, regardless of weight are not being added to the shipping on checkout?

For Example: I have a product that has $10.00 added to the shipping charges. A per order ship method called "Ship Charge 1" which charges $20.00 per order. If I order something without the upcharge on shipping the total shipping should be $20.00, but if I add that product with the $10.00 ship charge, the ship total should be $30.00.

Can you confirm? Thanks.

Yep, it is working for both shipping adjustments by a modifier and for a "Extra Ship Fee" on the product.

I have the developers edition service pack 1. Does this code have the sp2 fixes you mentioned? I'm wondering if i'm not using the latest code. Thanks!

You will be getting the SP2 fixes as soon as we release SP2 next week.
