I customized SP1 (www.nicegesture.com) and just started uploading my products. I customized checkout pages... login... category and product templates and so on... I got everything up and running and definitely do not want any technical problems.

What I need from SP2 package is Payflow Pro Gateway and Google Checkout update. What files do I need to replace or add in SP1 version?

I would really appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.

Omer,

To be honest you need all of SP2. Just taking what you want will leave issues elsewhere.

What I tell everyone is that if a page or file was updated in the SP2 build, it was for a reason and that new code needs to be merged into the site or added to the site, or the mods made by the designers/developers need to merge their code back in.

Think long term here.

Our previous BV4 host selectively upgraded our site, twice. When we moved it over to Noah some features were broke pretty good. It took Noah awhile to complete the upgrades but a few of the minor problems persisted until we upgraded to BV5.

My recommendation: Don't do half an upgrade. You may end up with a half @$#% web site.

Omer,

I feel for you. I was very nervous since we have spent months customizing our site http://www.bagstore.com

We created a seperate test site (mirror of our current site) with all of our customization specifically for SP2. This way we could solve any issues before implementing it on our actual site. I was actually pleasently suprised when there were only a couple of minor changes we needed to implement. We made the changes within just a few hours and were back up.

I would take to your hosting company or set this up on your server if you are hosting it yourself.

Hope this helps.

As I get into more detail about SP1, I agree with you. I don't think a partial update will do the trick... I guess my attempt can be described as 'a noob ASP programmer trying to get away from work'... lol
I just downloaded SP2 full version and created SP2 test store at my local server. I will update and test necessary files there and create a mirror site first. Then run the patch from SP1 to SP2 on the production site.... then just replace the updated files on the production site. Lets see if this will work.

I see BV Commerce 5 SP2 at the right top corner... :-) It is all good, had to make the changes on the checkout pages and so on.... but it was not that difficult.

To be safe, copy the files that you changed the html to a different folder and when you find problems, you can look at them side by side and re-create the changes. I noticed that SP2 affected the product page template, change email, change password and the search page. I'm sure there's more but those are the ones that I can remember. Personally, I would be more nervous doing a partial patch than the whole upgrade and I had to do this for more than 1 client. Go for it!

The site was updated and everything is working correctly accept for a little problem at gateway but it should be resolved today or tomorrow. I am not worried about it. Upgrade is fully completed. I updated the templates and some other files as you mentioned. It is looking as it was before. I think what made everything easier was running the patch directly on the 'web server'. I did not encounter any problems with the software.
