Is there a breakdown of what each administrative role does? Is there a 'complete' admin which encompasses all roles and if so which one?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure New Admin group will do everything by default.

Go to "People" "Groups" in Admin and you can see what the defaults are set at. You can add or change the permissions to pretty much what ever you want.

I'd like to see this spelled out by someone from BV for clarity. I can't find a definition of what each role does anywhere. Doesn't have to be fancy, just would like to see it here as a reference for all of us.

Thanks!

Sorry for any confusion.

Under People > Groups, edit a group to see what permissions that group has.

For example, editing “New Administrator” will show you that this user has full access to all available permissions.

Available permissions have two options, edit or view. These options correspond to each tab in the admin.

Example:

Catalog – View means you can view the Catalog tab. Catalog – Edit means you can edit anything under the Catalog tab. The same applies for marketing, people, content, orders, reports and options.

Nick,

This is something that should be in the manual.

Pessimists buy parachutes.

Let's get this in the manual but I appreciate the walk through. I know you guys know this stuff but new people won't. Great feature, let's make sure we all understand what it is and how to use it.

Thanks

C... From another newbie (coming from another cart system)... Take small bites.

There are a great many things that are cryptic in nature (for non-programmers) in the admin pages. All credit is due for a great product that is continuing to grow, and a team scrambling to stay even with clients' wish-lists. The manual is a work in progress. The BVC4 manual fills in some gaps and is a big help at times.

I've got a long list of 'stuff' that I'd like to look up in a manual too. For now, a little trial and error is the only way to see what happens, ie., admin permissions. Also, use the search feature on the forum. It's likely that a Q/A has been posted either in the BVC5 or BVC4 forum.

We all have an interest in a rising tide... When in doubt, ask.

Pessimists buy parachutes.
