Another feature our clients are asking for is eBay integration. While it doesn't look like this functionality is built in with BV Commerce, it seems like it could be done as a plug-in. Has anyone done anything like this yet? Is anyone else interested in this functionality?

I am not interested but I can put my 2 cents in about this as our current cart (that we are moving away from) has an Ebay component that had so much trouble it wasn't worth it. Not only were there functionality issues from within the software itself, when you're dealing with a third party like Ebay, who is constantly changing their structure and architecture, it compounds problems because when they make changes you now have to modify the underlying structure of your cart software.

Joe,

Hey from the other side. The eBay integration is a great concept. It can introduce your company to an unbelievable number of people. Done right, this would be an extremely valuable tool.

I just got the [ebay integration tool] and dug in deep to see what made it tick. I joined the developers site from ebay and read the documentation and downloaded the SDK to see what was in it. The "tool" is MOSTLY work already done from the eBay SDK. That being said, it just takes the integration connection and regular maintenance like everything else.

In my opinion, it shouldn't be as big a deal as the "other" company made it. They are just stupid.

Futhermore,

It is possible and could be very useful, but in the real world it would have to

1) Keep track of inventory
2) If sold on eBay, pull the item out of your store's inventory
3) Transform any attributes you have set up for your product into the ebay listing
4) If sold in your store and you run out of stock of that item and is an active ebay listing you're going to have upset eBay'ers if you have to pull the listing or an upset store customer if you can't deliver their order
5) So, the ebay control would have to temporarily pull the item out of your store inventory until the auction is over and if not sold on eBay then return it to your store's inventory
6) Be integrated into the product details (i.e. Click here to send to eBay) as a one-click action
7) This list goes on...

But it would be nice.... ;)
