Made a flash slideshow on the homepage through the admin. Hit it with any of those browsers for the first time and I need to refresh in order for the rotator to activate.

This isn't the "Click Here To Activate" issue, it's empty white space the size of the movie.

Anybody run into this?

I tried this a while back. In Firefox and IE6 it worked fine, just ran. In an older version of Netscape, it stayed blank no matter what I did. Odd, FF and Netscape usually show the same quirks.

Post SP2, running now. It's a messy thing if the pics aren't the same, it doesn't center the pics, etc. I won't be using it, but I've just made a quickie and put it up in my col 1 to test.

Have a look in a few browsers.

Open, but not launched yet. Don't mind the mess. Post when done so I can close.

Matt, I've noticed that it just takes a very long time for it to come on. It stays blank for a while then appears. I've also seen it not appear until the refresh.

Hey guys. We are looking into adding some loading text. What is the size of the images loading into the rotator?

The slideshow I created is only 3 images at 10-15k each. A loader is great but if a page requires a refresh in order for it too work, will the loader even appear?

I have discovered that once you exceed 7 images the load time increases drastically and above 10 images it does not load any at all. So it seems to be a problem with the flash rotator where it can only handle a certain amount of images at a time!!! Hope we can get this fix!!!! My images are all under 50K.

Thanks,

Any new info? We're seeing extremely slow load times too: 5 images, each about 60k.

Does anybody perhaps have an alternative to the Flash rotator that folks can use instead?

looking for a resolution to this also. We have a new BV5 SP3 site we're trying to launch and the old site has a flash rotator as part of the site that we are moving over. This flash rotator has 29 images to file thru. When we get to 10 images, the built-in rotator ceases to work anymore.

We've tried adding in the direct flash source code to the home.master (HEAD tag code here) and the general call scripts as a block content to the home page but cannot get that to work either.

we resolved our issue with re-doing the flash code with 2 lines in the HEAD of the home.master, a general call script as an HTML block on the home page, and an XML file in the root of the site listing all images with respective links, etc. I've attached notes to it here in case anyone wants to use it. Pretty simplistic in nature, but works great us now.
