Is there a way to ONLY have the cross-sell items appear as a "recommended item" on a product page and NOT have it show up when you add the primary product to the cart? It seems almost redundant -- and as a customer if I didn't want the "accessory" I would find it annoying to have this intermediate screen trying to sell me the accessory again before going to the shopping cart.

Thanks

Joe, Cross sells and Up Sells behave differently.

I display cross sells on the product page. These are other completely different products that may be 'of interest'. (an additional sale)
Upsells would be an attempt to sell the larger size of an item already in the cart. (a better sale)

Be sure to select the correct 'sell' when assigning to a product. I don't get any 'upsell' messages or interuptions on the way to the checkout page with my 'cross sells'.

Mitch,

Thanks -- but mine is not behaving that way. If I select an item as a "cross-sell" -- it displays it on the product page as a "recommended item" that you can add to the cart separately, but when you add the main item to the cart, it offers that cross-sell item again before hitting the checkout page. So somewhere I have something set that you do not.

If I set it as an "upsell" -- then it does not display it on the product page, but still displays an intermediate step before the cart page.

Here is a link to the page if you would like to see: http://www.artechservice...or-Lamp__ZM-AVISUN1.aspx

Upsells would generally be something like optional accessories that the user could add on their way to the cart, which could get annoying if not used specifically for something like that.

Odd... if you don't have the bulb set as an upsell, I shouldn't see it except on the main product page along with the lamp.

I know -- it's behaving like an upsell/cross-sell combination -- I thought maybe there was a setting somewhere I had set wrong -- maybe it's a function/problem with the theme(??)

Hello,
Did you import products from BVC4?
I just saw the following on a post related to the migration tool. If you did, maybe something got messed up.

"version 5.0.0.23 has now been published that migrates accessory choices as cross sells and fixes some issues with certain types of product choices not migrating properly."

Bob,

Thanks -- no -- I migrated from SF6, but it would seem to me that you could turn off the cross sells and then turn it back on and fix the problem. Not sure how to handle it at this point, I can't use the cross-sell feature as it is.

Joe you might also try deleting the product and then recreate it. That might clear it up.

No -- I created a NEW product and the behavior is the same -- still get the cross-sell item between product and cart. And even if I could delete a product and re-create it -- that would be a pain for the hundreds of products that I want to use cross-sells for.

Not sure why this is a bug for just me -- and it does'nt matter which theme you use.

I think you just need to disable the setting "Display Cross Sells When Adding Item To Cart:" on the BVAdmin/Configuration/Orders.aspx page. (Options Tab / Orders Link)

Also make note of:

Display Cross Sells In Shopping Cart
