I'd like to be able to have a category-specific <title> text on category pages.

Image 1 shows my current SF6 site's cabinets page, and the Title text in the HTML code.

Image 2 shows a Google search displaying the Title text on the results page.

I can place category-specific text on each page of my SF6 site, and this text has helped me get on page 1-2 of most Google searches for my products.

Image 3 shows my new BV5 site's cabinets page with the home page's title text in the HTML code. So far, I've only been able to get the home page Title text to show up in the category page's HTML.

How can I change the Title text on Category pages & Product pages??

Image 4 shows the 'title' feild on the category edit page. Anything I place here seems to be ignored.

Thanks.

Under Options > General it takes the "Store Name" and puts that first. Then it puts the title text after it. With products we put the product name in the title first and then append the store name on the end.

Nope, that's not whats happening.

The Store's name stays there and isn't changing no matter what page you're on.

I went to www.birdsafestore.com, a BV5 site. The page title changes as you go from page to page as it's supposed to.

Go to:

and give it a try...

Where is the control that places the <title> on the page?

The left col menu has the <a title="page title" text, it's just not making it 's way to the page....

The title in a link is an attribute (<a title="fu"...) just for that link (it gives context to the link and a little tooltip on hover). You're looking for the meta <title> _tag_, which is always inside the <header> tag on every page (and can be found in the master pages). Two completely different things.

Have you set the meta titles in your product and category admins?

Yep, metas are filled in... (does that mean "set"?)

Something else funny... All but two left col menu items remain 'flipped' to brown in IE6 as if the mouse is hovering over.... See below: In FF they stay black and flip brown on mouse-over.

I really don't care if they flip or not, it'd just be nice if they all looked and behaved the same.

Yes, that's what I mean. Sounds like there's a deeper issue there.

Check your link rules in CSS, see if :visited has anything to do with that.

A-HA! One step ahead of you... 'visited' was set to the same color as hover (I didn't do it). Funny that IE didn't follow that rule consistently, and the effect followed no pattern, but that's IE for you.

All's good with the hover / visited thing now.

I can launch (maybe next week) once I get the page titles to change. I don't think I'm going to find that problem in the CSS.

Thanks, Cliff

Hey Mitch. Everett just updated your ticket. Send us the files he requested so we can take a look at it for you. We can't duplicate this issue.

Thanks!
