Adding new products to BV5 that won't save/update

What could be the possible reason why BV5 won't let you update or save a new product when you just have just added the SKU and name? At first I thought that same sku had already been saved, but when I searched (at length) I couldn't find a product with that sku, so I don't know why it won't let me save. This has happened to me on two different BV5 sites for my company. It seems like such a simple problem and I feel silly for asking, but it is really irking me.

I just tried this, I saved my product fine. Just name and SKU, hit 'save and continue'... |
