How do I enable taxes on shipping to Canada, while US shipping remains untaxed?

We ship to both the US (which does not charge tax on shipping) and Canada (which does charge tax on shipping). How would I have tax apply to Canadian orders and not to US? The checkbox in BV's tax configuration area seems to be an "all-or-none" control regarding taxes on shipping.

When you create taxes you can set the country, region, county and product type that they apply to. Just create a tax that only applies to Canada.

I have created custom taxes for Canada, Michigan, and Ontario. Canada and Ontario charge tax on shipping. Michigan does not. There is a checkbox above all of these (not each of these) on the "taxes" page to allow tax on shipping. There is no checkbox within the individual taxes ("edit tax" page) to make shipping taxable for just Canada or Ontario. If I check the box, Michigan will be incorrect. If I do not check the box, Canada and Ontario will be incorrect.

Rob,
Currently the "apply taxes to shipping" is a global setting across the store. I'll add this to the list of requested features and see if we can get this into an update.

Is my request to have Tax calculated as VAT (tax is included in price for the end user so it has to be substracted during print/show) on the list? I had this request since the first betas. |
