Hi there,


Ok, time for what's probably a really stupid question, and I hope this is the right place for this post!



We're just trialing BV Commerce and liking it a lot, but one thing has me really confused. What is the Handling Fee all about? What's it's function when you have complete control of all the shipping charges?



Is there anyway to hide or remove it?

Just ONE thing????

Some stores offer free shipping, but need to recover the cost of packaging, labeling - pick/pack/ship - may tack on a modest fee for 'handling' the order.

Some resellers will need to collect this and forward it to whomever their drop shipper is. Some charge a per-order fee in addition to the net shipping costs.

I'll sometimes use it if I've got to crate ($) a large piece of furniture. The client can avoid this charge (and the variable shipping charge) if he comes to the shop and just hauls it away in blankets. It's just a way to get paid for 'handling' the order that isn't a normal cost, shipping, goods, etc.

Software companies offering downloadable products might use it also.

LOL! There have been several things actually, but for the most it's all been quite straight forward and i've managed to find answers or insights into most things on the forums. One thing i'm trying to ascertain at the moment is whether Worldpay (our payment gateway) will enable us for the "invisible" method which BVC uses, but in order for that to happen we have to achieve PCI Security Standards Compliance. Lots of red tape, IDS scans, server configuration issues and so on...


I digress! Thanks for clearing that up though, I sort of thought that was what it would be for but it's nice to have it confirmed. Do you know if it can be disabled or deleted though? I really don't have any need for that as all our prices take into account transaction fees, packaging, etc, etc...
