These were also posted in the bugs section as I'm not sure if some of these were intended to work this way or not.

[2]Annoyance #1 (this could be fixable in a workflow but haven't looked at it yet):[/2]

[2]If you edit a customer's order after it has been placed and the price of the product has changed since the order was placed, the order is updated with the with new price. Once an order have been placed at a given price, the price should not change unless an admin specifically changes the price of the product.[/2]

[2]Annoyance #2 (actually 2 but both related to the order manager):[/2]

[2]If you are looking through your orders in the order manager and are on a page other than page 1. You view the order and click order manager to go back to the order manager it returns you to page 1 of the order manager. It should return you to the last page you were looking at. Secondly, if you do a search for a specific order number using the filter, the only way to reset the filter is manually changing all of the fields back to the default. There should be a button to return to the "Default" order manager view. There should also probably be some site settings to setup what the default order manager view should be like in bv2004. [/2]

[2]Annoyance #3[/2]

[2]I wish the filters on the "people" manager used the logic of either a "contains" or "begins with" for the searchable fields like the rest of the filters. It makes it much quicker to find a particular customer, especially when you have someone on the phone that has a difficult to spell name. The rep understands the first part of the last name/email and can type in what they know and still be able to pull up the account. It also would help greatly when someone places an order with a typo and then calls us why they cannot login to the web site. They give their e-mail address and the search returns nothing. 2 additional searches later it is discovered that instead of comcast.net they put comcast.com or comcsast.net.

I have some suggestions as well:

1. More work on backorder situation -- if items are added from a category page (Bulk Order, Detailed List, etc.) the customer does not know if the item is not in stock. Needs a javascript Pop-up

2. The ability to have Contact Info emails sent to and read on the store web interface rather than sent to an email address -- sort of a built-in contact management system, just basic.

3. Inventory notifications above "out of stock"

4. The ability to tie an Offer to a particular customer and have a value that reduces with each use, like a Gift Certificate -- this would solve my issue of wanting an "account" for some nonprofit organizations that I'm currently using Gift Certificates for.

5. Ability to show backordered items/quantities on email and print templates.

1. Agreed, backorder handling in bvc has always been lackluster.

2. While it would not be totally built-in, we use Smarterticket to handle this type of thing which basically creates web tickets out of e-mails.

3. While a proper implementation would be nice and would require an additional database field to control the inventory low setting on a product by product basis. A customization can be implemented to handle this type of thing. It can technically handle it on a product by product basis by using a product property. Not as neat as it being a part of the package but it is still doable.

4. Not really sure what you are looking at here that gift certificates don't satisfy your need. But since offers are plug-ins, I have no doubt it is doable as a customization.

5. See #1

As far as number 3, my understanding is they are actually looking at that for SP3 -- <hopeful>

What I'm looking for is the ability to *edit* gift certificates, to add to the amount on a regular basis. I found Offers won't work because they dont reduce value in use.

As I have yet to really examine the offer functionality throughly, I cannot be 100% sure on this, however, I do not see why such an offer could not be implemented. It may require an additional workflow task on top of the offer. If it can't be done with offers and workflows it can definitely be implemented as a plug-in with a workflow task.

I do not think this can be implemented as an offer, however it can be customized via a plugin and using a modification to the gift certificate workflow.
