I have decided to can my existing Affiliate program since I can't get it to work properly, in favor of using the built-in program. I have outstanding amounts that need to be brought over. Where in the database are the affiliate amounts generated stored. It's not in the Affiliate Table -- I set up a test account and can't find the amount stored anywhere. Even if it's practical to do so -- I may have to actually pay out the amounts generated under the old system. |

Well Joe, I'm really not familiar with the affiliate system as your question is actually the first time I have looked at it....
but, in researching your issue, I think you have discovered what I consider to be a serious flaw in the affiliate system. It appears that the way the system is currently designed to calculate commissions is that it searches through all orders in the system and then calculates the affiliate commission.
The reason I call this a flaw (definitely inefficient if all you are looking for is a total) is that it in no way keeps track of any changes you make the affliate commission status. For example, if after so many sales you bump someones commission up from 5% to 10%, all of the order history will be calculated at 10%. I also don't see any way that the system keeps track of payout history.
Due note, I've spent a total of about 10 minutes looking at it, but I know for sure that at least "Affiliates Sales Report" uses the method above to calculate commissions. |

Hmm .. that is a bummer -- that needs to be addressed. Merchants often also offer a sign-up bonus and then there is now way to do that.
The one benefit to that system is that if an order is canceled for any reason then the amount would be taken back off, which is a big plus. |

Before I get too deep into using this Affiliate program -- how do I indicate when I have paid the Affiliates? I see no control screen to indicate payouts. If the report is generated on the sales, then how do you know how much you owe them after you pay them -- the report will always run up a grand total. |
