Not sure if you want to consider this a "bug" or not ...

But you have Puerto Rico listed as a Country, where it should be a state within the US -- You don't have it as one of the regular US State entries.

I noticed this only because I had a customer from PR place an order today and thought it was strange that she selected FedEx 2-Day for shipping -- well, if you choose "Puerto Rico" as the country -- it's the only thing she could have done -- that's the only option, as that is the only option that recognizes Puerto Rico in that way. I added PR to the list of states and now USPS shows up with all the options.

My question here is: Is it going to hurt in any way then to "Disable" Puerto Rico in the list of Countries, since I now have it as a State.

Hey Joe,

I thought this was a very interesting observation. Since you are located in the US, I do not think that deactivating Puerto Rico as a country will hurt anything. However, users outside of the US should not deactivate Puerto Rico from the countries list (If they plan on shipping there).

The US and Puerto Rico have a very interesting relationship. You can do a little background reading here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_state

And the USPS actually allows you to treat Puerto Rico as a state. I spoke with them about this earlier today. I also found this page which is very helpful with formatting addresses in Puerto Rico:

http://www.musicaboricua.com/USPS-PR.html

Ultimately, the software will allow you to add Puerto Rico as a state (PR) but currently does not allow the addition of "Urbanization Code" However, the USPS service should do this for you.

I will be checking with FedEx and USP later today to see if they also allow you to list Puerto Rico as a state.

Thanks,
Everett Comstock
