Maybe there is a better way to set up a certain type of product:
A product that is shipped by a vendor but yet the price includes shipping. So I have it marked as a "non-shipping" product -- but I would like to be able "create a package" and insert the tracking number for the customer when the vendor ships.

I would think the vendor could get the tracking number to you either:
1. by using your UPS or Fed Ex account number to ship the package (otherwise UPS won't share that with you),
2. by emailing the tracking number,
3. by having the third party shipper add your email to the 'notify' list of emails,
4. by having the third party shipper add your customer's email to the 'notify' list of emails.
I'd also like to grab any tracking numbers generated by third party shippers sending to my customers. BUT, I have a feeling most of my vendors lack the sophistication required to deal with this kind of service.
Some of my third party vendors/shippers are still hand writing labels and dropping off pacels at the post office. We're not all living in the 23rd century yet. |

Maybe I didn't make my question clear. I'm getting the tracking numbers -- there is just no place to put them because BV does not create a package because it is a "nonshippable" item |

If you uncheck "Non-Shipping Product", then BVC5 will create a separate package for the item(s) that ship from each vendor. Since you have my Shipping Rate Provider Suite, you can avoid a double shipping charge by adding a shipping cost rule like this,
When Source Address "Company" = "Vendor A", Cost = 0. |
