My offline customers are typically billed via Net 30 terms and this is common throughout the industry I am in. I would like to offer similar terms to my online customers. We are thinking about using Bill Me Later. Is this supported with BV Commerce? If not, how difficult would it be to make a custom plug-in for it? |

Out of the box, this is not supported. I do not believe it would be that hard of a customization... |

If they are paying Net 30, chances are they are also paying by check.
1. For our customers that want to reserve a clinic but make a partial or delayed payment, I just tell them to use the Pay by Check option. Then they can send in a check whenever they want for how much they want. If they later want to pay by credit card, I have them call me and I enter the information manually through the Payment section. If most of your customers ultimately pay by check this may be a viable option. If all of them pay by check, just don't use the CC option.
2. If most of your customers pay by CC and you want to delay the charge for a specific length of time, say 30 days or when shipped, you can set BV5 up to only authorize the CC, then you do the charges later on.
In any event BV5 offers several order view options including Unpaid, Partial Paid, Paid, Unshipped, Partial Shipped, Shipped all by date range. If you need other more specific reports you can always generate then from your SQL database.
We have modified and created a new email template which will send out an email payment reminder to our customers. This is an individual by order basis which would take some time if you have a lot of them. But you could probably modify the system or generate appropriate reports to do what you want. Using the QB connector tool, you might (I haven't tried it) bill your customers by email from Quick Books.
The nice thing about BV5 is it's very flexible and easy to modify to meet your needs. And this forum is an excellent source to help you learn the how to use it.

Thanks for the advice, but I doubt we could do that because customers in my industry are notorious for not paying on time. With Bill Me Later, the service would likely take the risk of not getting paid in exchange for a small percentage of the sale, rather than paying bill collectors to try to clean it up later. Also, they allow the customer 90 days to pay, which should be enough time for all but the most sluggish ones. We are seriously considering payment by check, but the order wouldn't ship until the check is verified with a check guarantee provider.
The bottom line is - we feel the risk of offering Net 30 terms over the Internet is too high, even if we did a credit check first.
Oh, and I wouldn't recommend QuickBooks to anybody. The flat file format it uses to store data is very insecure and incredibly inefficient. I used to use it for my business and I automated the entry of the orders into it using the QB SDK. I had to upgrade my hardware just to get it to function because the API for QuickBooks is such a resource hog, not to mention it can only be called on the machine that hosts QuickBooks. For this project we will either go with BusinessWorks or Microsoft Office Accounting. Microsoft Office Accounting has built in PayPal support, which makes it attractive because we are considering setting up a store on eBay as well. |

I'm not sure if you aware, however Bill Me Later has US$20 million minimum IIRC.
Also, while I agree the quickbooks API is garbage, I do not think quickbooks itself is that bad. |
