When we tested Google Checkout we were unable to retrieve Shipping Charges correctly and thought it was do to the fact we were only internal. Now we are live and still we can not retrieve charges. I have download the latest patch that Justin posted, but still no good. Any thoughts? can you test it out? www.FireFold.com |
Thanks,

Christopher -- Google Checkout has a 3-second rule that you will probably never meet unless you perhaps only use ONE shipper. It will nearly always fall to your backup charges you set in the Options-Payment-Google Checkout screen, which you will either find short you on shipping or overcharge your customer. Unless you charge Flat Rates for your store, the other thing that will happen is a customer will do an estimate before checking out and then they will not match what they end up being charged for.
Another problem with it is that when you see the order in your BV backend, it will not show shipping charges, those will be included in the subtotal, so affiliate amounts will be screwed up and everything else that needs to be calculated on a true subtotal.
I turned it off. They sent me a beta version that actually retrieves rates from the carriers directly, but the BV Support staff needs time to work on getting the XML feed for that. |

Google Checkout will only wait 3 seconds for your site to reply with the shipping costs. I suspect your site is taking too long to respond.
As an experiment, try reducing the number of shipping options. |
