Why do Sales and Offers not apply to Product Modifiers

I'm bewildered by this. And this will probably make it a deal breaker for us purchasing BV. We rely on the product Modifiers (options) for many of our products as we have many options. Those options cost money. So if we can't apply a sale or discount to the product modifiers then this is not going to work.
Also the fact that Volume discount don't work with Price Groups is also not good.
Any solutions? |

Is there a way to make this work?
We need Sales and Offers to apply to the final cost of a product (to include Product Modifiers) For example, selling t-shirt for $20.00, with product modifier of XXL +$5.00 for a total of $25.00. Say we run a sale for 10% off. To me the total should be $25.00 - 10% = $22.5. Currently the total would be $20.00 - 10% =$18.00 +$5.00 =$23.00.
I just don't see how this make sense!
Also need the Volume Discount to work with Price Groups. Right now the Volume discount overrides (takes priority) the Price Groups if though price groups would give lower cost.
I need to know that these can be made to work. IF they can't then we will have to pass on BV. I really like the software so far, the admin seems to be the easiest to use. But, i need these functions to work. |

Both can be done with custom coding.
The biggest advantage to bvc over any other e-commerce package I have seen is its ability to be adapted to do what you want. This includes the ability to create custom content blocks, category views, sales, offers, and product pages among other things.
Things that we have done either in preparation for sales or for clients include the VAT Tax module previously posted about, a more robuts inventory display module, reseller pricing modules (different than price groups), automated shopping engine scripts, an announcement window setup that overlays the pages, Payment gateway wrapper which allows you to select a different gateway for each card type, and several others. There is really nothing that cannot be done with bvc because of its designed which is its biggest strength.
If you are strictly looking for a ready to go solution, bvc might not be for you, as the included templates are limited and require a basic knowledge of .net and css to customize them. |

So then it can be done. Can you e-mail me with what it would take and a ballpark what it would cost to make it work they way i'm talking? [email protected]Thanks |

Dan -- one thing I found out -- and this may or may not be a bug -- is that depending on where a particular function is in a workflow makes it work or not. If you look at the Product Pricing workflow, I found that if you have Apply Pricing Groups before Apply Sales, then it will not work, but if you reverse it, it does. So play around with the workflows and see if you can't get it to work the way you want.
I know what you are talking about with the sales not applying to the Product Modifiers, but yet it is that way in SF6 too -- so that wasn't a shock to me. |

Joe:
SF6 the modifiers worked the way I'm describing with a sale. Or at least it did for me. I didn't do price groups or volume discount with SF6.
As long as it can be custimized to make it work then that is fine with me. |

That's right -- it didn't work for me because I didn't do an update for fear of breaking something else! :-)
It seems that BV is much more conducive to making changes and getting things tweaked -- and dealing with updates will have much less of an impact on customizations than you are used to. |
