Hello,
How long of a testing phase can we expect before the release of SP3? Are they any people outside of BVCommerce involved in testing the SP3 release?

Testing is a continuous process for service pack 3. We run builds internally and do both automated and manual tests after every change is checked into source control. When all issues have been resolved we will continue internal testing and will expand to external testers.

I'm really hoping this will be available this week. Christmas is coming fast and there are some items we need to have developed before we hit the holidays hard, but are holding off till we get this release to make sure we don't duplicate efforts (I'm sure its the same for many other people here).
Any additional information you could provide in terms of changes would be greatly appreciated by the community. |

Hello,
Christmas is coming fast? It's here! Sales are up. Unless you MUST have one of the bugs fixed, I wouldn't be first to upgrade during the busy season.

Sadly Chris is right, the 2007 Christmas season is shot as far as SP3 goes. Who's going to risk their holiday season on a SP nobody has seen?
The time to release SP3 came and went in October. I'm glad the pack is coming, but the time to release it was a few weeks back.
Let's hope it's out in the next week or two so it can be tested by shop owners for launch right after the holidays.
This was why some of us felt the focus should have been on SP3 first, Signature second.

a) bug fix only SP3 by 1st week in November and then SP4 with bundling/kitting in Q2 2008
How's this coming along, is there a new ETA?

We published a road map earlier this week. Beta for SP3 will be available on Tuesday.

Marcus,
When kitting is available, will it add each inventory item to an invoice as a separate line item? This would solve the problems that I having with assemblies in quickbooks and the connector not being able to use them. |

Please let us know when this beta is available today.
I'm assuming this is a straight upgrade over SP2, and when SP3 final is released that will be a straight install over this beta?

We are finishing up the patches for the Beta now. It will be out soon. And yes, SP3 will install over the Beta. |

What would you recommend as a best practice for backing up the existing site, just make a copy of all site files (I have RDC capability to the server) and a DB backup?

Yep, I would just make a copy of all files and a db backup. We do not store any state anywhere else, so this should get everything. |

How would you expect this to work with TekGear which was designed for SP2? Just giving that a thought right now, I'm wondering if the upgrade will break a lot of things?

Andy, can you get your category items to display? From the homepage if I click on any category it displays no items?

I'd recommend waiting for an answer based on what just happened to our store :( This may be very minor and localized, but the install will not work with categories for some reason. I can't manually add products to a category and it also won't show any products in any category, even newly created items?
