Hi Tech Support Team,

I have a very strange issue and does anyone having issue with PayPal Express where customers are required to login to PayPal account twice to complete their order?

The difference between the 2 scenarios below are:

a) Customer is already logged in at our webstore:

1) Customer adds and item to shopping cart, click on PayPal to pay

2) In PayPal page, they login, select the payment method, enter billing/shipping, and hit "Continue"

3) They will be redirected back to our webstore. Customer then select a shipping method and click the Place order button.

Everything sounds normal IF the customer is already login.

b) Customer is a new USER and has not logged in / signup as a new user yet:

If a customer has not login, they will be going thru these longer steps in order to place an order.

Do step 1, 2 like above, then

3) PayPal redirects to our website but customer are forced to login or sign up as a new user.

4) So, if I register as a new user, the moment click on "Create New" button, they will be redirected to the default home page.

The intended behavior here is to continue with selecting a shipping method and click on "Place order" button.

Can anyone help?

FYI: When step 4 above was happening, the Query String with PayPal Session ID / Token has been dropped or missing from the URL.

FYI: We have "Default Checkout" set to PayPal Express Checkout and Force E-mail Address On Anonymous Checkout = "checked".

If I am not mistaken, I believe you are the customer that we are dealing with in a support ticket. I just want the community to know why there is no response on this.

Problem solved.

Hi Marcus and Justin,

Everything is working well now and customer is not required to be login or create an account with our web store in order to complete their orders.

Sorry for the hassles and this seems to be an operator error instead of BV5 issue.

Solution:
1) Optional: Delete “Require Login Before Checkout” workflow from both “Checkout Selected” and “Checkout Started” (Under Options | Workflows)

2) Make sure to uncheck the checkbox that says
a. “Redirect Users to Home Page on Login” under Options | Users.
b. “Force E-mail Address On Anonymous Checkout” under Options | Orders.

I am not sure if this setting is selected by default but it is definitely conflicting with PayPal Express checkout with the double-login routine to checkout.

Thank you very much for this excellent product! Keep up the good job!!!

It's good to have the issue and followup out there for the rest of us. Thank you both. By having it here in the forum it becomes something everyone else can reference.
