What would be involved in setting up FedEx shipping in BV? I.E. so that fed ex rates are calculated properly on the checkout page (depending on shipping location)

Also, is there a way BV could print out bar codes that correspond with FedEx for each order (eg. on the order details)

Thanks

Live FedEx shipping rate calculation is built in to BVC5. Select Options > Site Settings > Shipping, then select FedEx from the list of providers and click on the New button to create a shipping method. Create one method for each FedEx service you use. They will appear in the checkout.

To include a barcode in your print out (such as the packing slip), you will need to install a barcode font on the computer that is printing and then modify the template/page that your are printing to specify the barcode font for the text that you want barcoded.

The intent is to include a barcode label that fedex can scan that will allow them to identify the shipment. (ie. it seems Every FedEx Ground package sent within the U.S. needs a bar-code label and an address label)

When the order is processed, will the text to be barcoded be included in the order/details text if the "fedex" shipping was selected by the users..
Also.. is there a particular type of barcode font that will be needed to be installed or would a free code 39 font be sufficient?

Retrieving FedEx shipping rates and printing FedEx shipping labels are 2 different things.

Retrieving rates is built into BVC5.

Printing a FedEx certified shipping label requires much more than just printing one of the numbers using a barcode. The shipping label must be created by FedEx using a FedEx program like Ship Manager, the FedEx online shipping tools, or a certified 3rd party application.

I am developing a certified add-on for BVC5 to print FedEx labels, but I don't have a release date.

I use FedEx with BV5 and use Andy's Shipper to integrate with Ship Manager and it works great -- though I'm very interested in seeing Andy's built-in application. FedEx supplies us with a thermal printer and lables and everything is taken care of automatically - orders are imported into ShipManager, I process them, and the tracking information is sent back to the store and the order marked as complete.
