http://69.84.153.207/Products/Ritter-204-Manual-Examination-Table__4443-204.aspx I have all my options in the drop down menu as null EXCEPT for the items with product numbers. You can still the product to your cart even though "Choose an option here" is selected.

Is "Choose an option here" null also? I use the same format (SP2), and I can't have "Select shelf size here" stay as a default to the cart. Try: http://www.missionfurnis...-Wall-Shelf__MAS131.aspx |

yup.. all my items are null except the items with a product number next to it.... this is sp3.1 ;)
These are straight from my bv 2004.7 store as well. All my null items in 2004.7 can't be added to the cart. I checked to make sure that the flagg to null carried over to the bv5 store and it did. I wonder if it has to do with existing items being null. I can try creating a new option to be null and see if that has to do with anything.

So i added a new choice and set it to null, it gives the "item required" text. It looks like it lays in how the product choices have been transfered from BV2004.7 to BVC5. Even though the null flag is set for my choices in BV5, items can be still added to the cart. This is a HUGE issue for my store!
UPDATE:
So i went in and changed the null items i originally had to null and took null "off". Saved changes. Then i went back in and changed the items i want to be set at null and I STILL have the same problem. It will still allow me to add null items to the cart. This has deal with something when i transfered my BV2004.7 products over to the BVC5 store.

I figured out the problem. Product modifiers only can have 1 item that is null. Check out: http://69.84.153.207/Pro...MAC1200-AAX-CXX-XXX.aspxThe null item test was created after the migration. There are three items in the drop down. Two are null. Only the last null item works. The GE Medical MAC 1200 Options was migrated. i deleted all my null items except for the "choose an option here" and everything worked, it raised the flag. then i created a null item at the end of the drop down menu and the "choose an option here" flag DOES NOT WORK. So the problem is that only one null item will work with the product choices... which is not good.

Good catch!
The 'null' checkbox should grey-out once used if only one null item is allowed, or there should be no limit on null items. How much time did you spend trying to figure this out?.
Perhaps they'll put a modification 'on the list' for the next update (or just a note in the manual). |

i migrated my 2004.7 store to BVC5. All my product options for 2004.7 have multiple null items. In BVC5 the red flag wouldt raise when you added a null item to the cart. I thought it was a problem with the migration so i created a support ticket. I opened up my database to see if the null items feild was filled on my migrated items and they were so bv nor i could figure out whats going on. Week later (today) i tried having two null items on a newly created product modifier and had the same problem. So its not a migration issue. Realized it was something to do with having more than one null item.
Sucks because i cant use BVC5 until we can have more than one null item, like in BV2004.7. I had a lot of bugs with BVC5 since i first purchased over a year ago. I thought finally Sp3.1 would fix them, but this is the last bug i found. Hopefully it gets resolved asap so i can finally make my move :)

Bryan... lots of bugs - well, some are genuine bugs, some are quirks caused by the fact that the programmers are not merchants, nor daily users.
For this 'quirk', you could have been saved hours of head banging if either a proper "no more than one null item" instruction were given in the manual, a line such as "Only one null item per list is allowed" appeared right on the modifier edit page, if the checkbox grey-out, or if more than one modifier in the list could be 'nulled out' - the best option. If one and only one null is allowed, a simple note to that effect would be nice.
Putting a real-life merchant who has faced real-life cart problems right at the programmer's elbow to smooth the rough edges could have saved me dozens of hours. Sometimes fixing the problem isn't the headache. Realizing how the damned thing works and why with no instructions or hints is a real time waster.
It's one of the best out there. It's just a bear to learn the 'quirks' with so little documentation. |

oh yeah i understand... ive been with bv for over a few years now. Best product there is matched with the best host (Noah) = sales goodness ;) I just been waiting patiently since bvc5 came out to update my two 2004.7 stores. This is the LAST bug that i have found since day one bvc5 launched that has affected the launch between bvc2004.7 to bvc5. Im over eager to get it running and start putting up new products again.
