I have a question about Image Folder Organization.
Do you leave all your product images in one folder? or do you create seperate folders for different types or catagories?
Just curious how people are doing it. I'm about to start uploading my images.

I have a folder for each main category and sometimes for each sub category depending on the number of products in the category.

We do ours by brand and then by category within the brand. If you have to go to two words be sure to use hard-drive etc...

My file storage mimics my laundry sorting method in my dorm.... one big heap in the middle of the room.
OK....it's Friday. I group by category, then by product. I name files by product name-image size (Shoe-B-sm .. Shoe-B-lg) so I can find it in the list a bit faster. When FTPing, on the spot sorting by date of edit brings everything up to the top so finding and moving the files up is easier on my tired eyes.
I'd be great if the BV side had a sort or two to help find files by methods other than name. Date of upload for instance would bring new files to the top of the list - but this is number 44 on my list of 'ease of use' improvements I could hope for. |

I use a method similar to Mitch's dorm room. I have them in folders spread all over the place depending on what they are used for.
If and when I get organized (number 25 on my new years resolution list) I'm going to create sub folders inside my Images Folder.

Does anyone know how to englarge the image viewer (file viewer that pops up when you go to select an image) in BV? We'd like to utilize our high res screens and reduce scrolling.

Open the \BVAdmin\Catalog\Products_Edit.aspx.vb file and find the RegisterWindowScripts function.
Modify the line to add new height/width:
sb.Append("w = window.open('../ImageBrowser.aspx' + parameters, null, 'height=480, width=640');")
I kind of expected that to be a javascript function in a js file not in an aspx file. Maybe in SP4.

All products images in one folder for me, but each photo is labeled as such:
AZ001_1_sm.jpg
Where AZ001 is the sku, _1_ is photo revision one, and sm is my small image.
It is a lot of work, but if done from the start it is easy. I process all my photo's in batch form as such: The high res photo's on my HD are just labeled as a sku, and I have photoshops automation settings to automatically resize the photo, append the file name, and save the small photo's to a folder for uploading. Photoshops automation tools is great in that you can resize, rename, and save for web for an entire folder worth of images in just one step.

Corneliu this worked to enlarge the entire window but I should have explained it better; we'd like to expand the file/folder viewer that scrolls up and down so we can display another 5-10 folders. Is that possible?

Correct, the folder list that's on the left hand side where you select where the files will be saved.

Open BVAdmin/ImageBrowser.aspx and change the width/height parameter in this line: <div class="SmallSystemFont" style="overflow: scroll; width: 250px; height: 300px; You might have to adjust that proportionally with my previous recommandation that changes the size of the window.
