Ok, I guess I have two questions about price groups. First, I can't seen to get my price groups to work properly, they show up on the product pages but when you add them to the cart the discount disappears. Second, is there a way to exclude a product from a price group or have a different discount for a subset of products. Essentially what I'm trying to do is offer a discount on our lens rentals and a smaller discount on our camera rentals for the same group of people. And my last question, is there a way to have a page be private so that only members of a certain price group can see it?

Thanks for any help,

I just tried this on our promotional items site and had no trouble. I tried applying discounts to a few products in the company jackets category and then drilled down into a single item - in this case the Port Authority Competitor Jacket and was able to apply discounts to that item, or to the customer that were applied through checkout. Which version are you using? If you want I can give you a list of a few products you can walk through and purchase to make sure we are on the same page?

Jason -- on your Pricing Groups -- what version are you using and are you logging in first? There was a problem with Price Groups that was fixed in 3.1, though I have had an issue with price group discounts disappearing if the customer uses PayPal for payment.

It would be nice if one of the settings for price groups would be to include/exclude a "Product Type" You can use List Price rather than Site Price, but then that will be affected by sales.

Jason, be sure to use Site Price, not List Price in Price Groups to set discounts. I can't find the thread, but I spent a day on this about 5 months ago. There's a 'thing' going on with List Price at the checkout page... I don't know yet if it's been fixed in SP3.1. If I find that thread, I'll post it.

Thanks for the replies. I am currently using percentage off site price on SP2. It discounts it fine on the product page but still no go once you add it to the cart. So it sounds like I cannot discount one product type more than another in the same price group though, correct? I'm trying to give one discount on lenses and a smaller discount on cameras in a professional price group I'm trying to create.

Aw man, now I see what the problem is. I use only variant pricing since I deal with different rental periods, I have no actual price values in the price field when I changed a product to have a price it worked fine. Any suggestions on how I could make this work? I could put a price in all of the price fields as our base rental however the variants still don't seem to be discounted so a three week rental still only shows the the discount of a one week rental. Any way to get this working with variants?

A few of us went through this about six months ago. If you are using 3.1 or 3.2, this should have been fixed. I seem to remember a patch metered out to those who needed the fix. This is #787 on the SP3 fix list, I think.

I'd submit a ticket on this. I think Justin can help. Mention my service ticket #41-11506-27761.

I just looked back, you are on SP2. That's it.

Found it. Core Hotfix... This was the repair offered and should be in SP3.X.
